What is 3D printing?
Think of it as printing a series of images on paper, cutting out the images then stacking the images up as layers you go. Each layer is printed onto the layer below, gradually building up a 3D object. Each layer is very thin and very precisely positioned on the layer below.
How does it work?
The design is created using a 3D modelling system, a Computer Aided Design (CAD) system which formats a digital file suitable for the 3D printing. The program generates printable layers in digital format which the 3D printer uses very accurately to build up the object, layer upon layer.
